“If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs.”- Deuteronomy 15:7-8
There’s something about personally touching and interacting with the needy. For twenty years I walked the streets of poor urban areas, knocking on doors, standing in marketplaces, and letter writing to the bereaved in the wee hours of the morning. These various experiences are helping me now in my walk with God and not in the way I originally imagined. God is shaping me to be a kinder, sensitive and loving person who speaks the truth of God. Our God is awesome, intentional and promises to go beyond what we can imagine or think! (Ephesians 3:20) I believe that God has called me to be an evangelizer and although I was bitter about being misled by the Jehovah’s Witnesses I can still see a purpose. But the true message of the Gospel breaks yokes, chains, and the message is of deliverance. The gospel is the greatest gift that we have to give to the world. We, by proxy, have the ability to deliver salvation to the whole world by sharing the teachings and sayings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God has anointed us to share the Gospel in various ways. We seek to see workings of the Holy Spirit in our own hearts manifest to freely give of ourselves to meet the needs of poor people. By doing so, we display the love and image of Christ and began to pour out the love that was given to us first.
Prayer: Father as you take your people on this journey I thank you for choosing us to be vessels for your glory. Thank you for carrying us through the wilderness so that we can stand in the sun and proclaim your fame loudly among the nations. Please, God, send your Spirit to give us the heart of your Son Jesus as we minister and give to the ones that you care so much about!
In His Saving name, we pray!
